WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Gallaudet University Tuesday night in the squad's final non-conference road contest of the season.
The Bison (17-15) salvaged a split of the season series with SU (12-15) by winning 25-15, 27-25 and 25-21.
Shenandoah led at 21, 22 and 23 in that middle set only to see its hosts steal the win by combining a kill and a Hornets attack error to score the set-clinching points.
In the third, the two teams were separated by no more than two points until Gallaudet reeled off a 4-0 run to take a 21-16 lead following an SU attack error.
Kaitlyn Kelley stopped that run with a kill, but Shenandoah was able to get no closer than two points the rest of the way.
The Bison clinched the match on a service ace.
Torie Gettier had 10 kills and Kelley nine to pace the Hornets offense; Kelley just missed a double-double after posting 10 digs.
Jasmine Callahan had 21 of the squad's 30 assists.
Sophomore Nicole Shannon had an excellent day at the service line with five aces.
Shenandoah completes its home schedule on Thursday with a 7 p.m. non-league match against Hood. Callahan, Rachel Cerretani and Rachel Roberts will all be honored prior to the Senior Night contest.
