WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team snapped its three-game losing streak Tuesday evening with a 66-48 non-league victory over Ferrum.

Shenandoah (5-4) also snapped a six-game losing streak to the Panthers (4-5) with the eight-point win. SU had not beaten Ferrum since winning 64-58 in a home USA South Conference contest on February 11, 2010.

The two teams had met six times since that meeting, including twice as non-conference opponents.

After Ferrum jumped out to an eight-point lead by scoring 21 of the initial 34 points of the game, the Hornets completely turned the tables on the contest.

Junior Kaimonne Douglas, who led the victors with 13 points, ignited an 11-0 run with a fastbreak layup at the 6:36 mark of the first.

Following a Derrick Perry jumper, Douglas scored seven straight points in the span of just 48 seconds to give the Hornets a 24-21 lead with 4:25 remaining.

SU would hold the lead for the remainder of the contest.

Jordyn Propst stopped the run with a jumper at 2:46 only to see the Hornets end the half on an 8-0 spurt.

This run extended itself into the start of the second as Dalon McHugh sandwiched two layups around a pair of Perry layups.

Shenandoah now led by 16, 39-23, and the contest was effectively over.

The Hornets lead did not fall below seven points the rest of the way.

An 8-0 run to finish, started by a Perry dunk, provided the final margin of victory.

In addition to Douglas' 13, Perry had 11 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots while McHugh had 10 points in his first start of the season.

Josh Grimard had 14 points for the Panthers.

Shenandoah takes to the road on Friday for a 6 p.m. exhibition at Howard University.
