WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah men's basketball team entered Saturday's game feeling confident after defeating Randolph-Macon. Despite, owning a 38-31 lead at halftime, Lynchburg climbed back to capture a 77-71 win at Shingleton Gymnasium.
The Hornets (5-18, 2-12 ODAC), hung with Lynchburg (17-6, 10-4), throughout the contest. Even though Rob Pryor's team was facing the third-ranked team in the conference, they were never intimidated.
On senior day, the lone upperclassmen Antwan Pittman made a statement. He finished the game with 20 points and five rebounds in front of the crowd of 474. Malcom Clark added 17 points while Gabriel Gonzalez was effective in the paint with 16 points.
But on defense, SU struggled to contain 6-11, Lynchburg bruiser, Austen Arnold, who finished the contest with 18 points and 10 boards. A.J. Hamilton also had a solid outing for Lynchburg, adding 12 points.
Shenandoah will look for redemption at Bridgewater on Wednesday. The Eagles topped SU in overtime in the last meeting between the two programs.
