WINCHESTER, Va. - Emory & Henry entered Saturday's contest at Shenandoah as one of the top teams in the ODAC.
The Hornets owned the first quarter and led 23-10 after 10 minutes. But the Wasps were pesky, fighting back to claim a 60-50 win.
Like many of its games this season, Shenandoah came out firing. Olivia Callan, Erin French, Kirstyn Arcata and Kanesha Foster all hit buckets early. It looked like it was going to be a day to remember.
But Emory & Henry made quick adjustments. When halftime rolled around, SU held just a 27-25 lead.
The Wasps gained confidence in the third quarter. Led by Asja Jenkins, E&H found a rhythm and was hard to slow down. The away team entered the fourth period with a 43-35 edge.
Shenandoah continued to fight throughout the fourth quarter but couldn't regain the lead. A late jumper by Jenkins sealed the game with SU falling 60-50.
The Hornets were led by Callan, who had 14 points on the night. Arcata folllowed up with 12.
SU will host Washington & Lee on Wednesday night.
