WINCHESTER, Va -The Shenandoah women's lacrosse team couldn't outlast Christopher Newport on Saturday, falling 18-9, at Shentel Sprint field.
The Hornets (0-2) struck first against the Captains (1-0), with a goal from Annie McCorry.
But CNU caught fire, scoring five unanswered goals until SU found the back of the net again at the 18:42 mark. The Captains continued to thrive on the offensive side of the field. Shenandoah trailed, 11-5 at halftime.
The opponent added two more tallies early in the second period, when Miranda Rudacille scored the Hornets' sixth point of the day.
But the SU defense struggled to find answers against CNU, resulting in an 18-9 final.
The Hornets were led by McCorry with four goals on the day. Rudacille and Brittany Arndt each added two.
Meaghan Galvin proved to be the focal point for the Captains, finishing the day with five goals and two assists. Catie Chess and Sarah Culver both had four goals a piece.
SU will hit the road next Saturday to play Lebanon Valley.
