ANNVILLE, Pa. - The SU women's lacrosse team put up a solid fight on the road against Lebanon Valley on Saturday, but headed home with an 8-4 loss.
Both defenses were showcased in the first half. Tori Kuntz struck for the Dutchmen at the 27:27 mark to give the opponents a 1-0 lead. But Jackie Hemler evened the score, finding the back of the net with 17:16 remaining in the period.
Despite eight shots by Lebanon Valley and six by Shenandoah, the score remained, 1-1, heading into the second half.
The Dutchmen took the lead early in the second stanza, but Abby Zorrilla answered, tying it up again with 24:36 remaining. The two teams traded goals again, with Lebanon Valley finding goals from Emma Jones and Boyce, and Miranda Rudacille and Annie McCorry striking for SU.
But a late surge by the Dutchemen was enough to come out with a victory. Four unanswered goals within the last five minutes propelled Lebanon Valley over Shenandoah, 8-4.
SU will seek its first win of the season when it hosts
McDaniel College next Saturday.
