FROSTBURG, Md. - Host Frostburg State held Shenandoah University scoreless in the second half on its way to a 14-5 non-league women's lacrosse victory Tuesday afternoon.
After Abby Zorrilla cut the Bobcats (2-3) lead to just one, 4-3, with her free position goal at 13:36 of the first, FSU reeled off the game's next four goals to extend its advantage to 8-3 with 6:04 remaining in the half.
Shenandoah (2-5) got goals from Nakona Wolfe and Zorrilla at 4:50 and 1:16, respectively, to cut the deficit to five, but could get no closer.
Frostburg scored all six of the second half goals, bookending the half with goals at 20:01 and :49 to provide the final margin of victory.
Brittany Arndt and Annie McCorry scored the Hornets initial two goals; McCorry's tally, off of a Becky Bove assist, tied the game at 2-2 at the 23:43 mark.
Sophomore Rachel Levy had 12 saves in the losing effort.
FSU outshot Shenandoah 17-12, scooped up 13 of the game's 21 groundballs and owned a 13-8 advantage in draw controls.
SU is back in action on Saturday in a 2 p.m. non-league home contest versus Marymount.
