GLENSIDE, Pa. - The SU men's lacrosse team's two-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday, as the Hornets fell on the road at Arcadia, 12-6.
Shenandoah (2-2) went neck-and-neck with the Knights (2-2) early in the contest, but a surge in the latter part of the first half gave the opponent an insurmountable edge.
Arcadia struck first less than two minutes into the game, jumping out to a quick, 1-0, lead. After another tally by the Knights, the Hornets found the scoreboard when Tilghman Sanders connected with the back of the net. Kyle Savage followed up with a goal of his own at the 8:24 mark in the first, and the game was even at, 2-2.
At the start of the second quarter, the opponent held a slim, 3-2, advantage. Arcadia struck again, but Jeff Goss added another for the Hornets, making it a 4-3 game.
But then the tide began to shift in favor of the Knights, and Shenandoah struggled to match the momentum.
From the 10:18 mark until halftime, Arcadia tacked on four unanswered goals, giving the opponent an 8-3 lead at the midway point.
But Shenandoah wasn't intimidated by a five-goal deficit. A Ryan Schott goal early in the third quarter made it a 8-4 game.
The Knights continued to add to their lead while the Hornets couldn't mount a comeback, resulting in a 12-6 win for Arcadia.
Shenandoah was led by Schott with two goals and one assist. Hornets' dynamic attackmen Stephen LaTona was held scoreless for the first time this season.
SU will look to bounce back when it hosts Bethany on Saturday.
