LEXINGTON, Va. - Host Washington and Lee University scored 11 of the first 12 goals of the game on its way to an 18-6 ODAC women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon.

W&L answered with another five-goal run to expand its lead to 10-1 with 5:31 remaining in the opening stanza.

Sophomore Abby Zorrilla stopped that streak with the first of her two goals at 3:29 only to see the hosts sandwich a 4-0 run around halftime.

Annie McCorry's unassisted goal at 19:35 of the second marked the start of a game-ending span in which the two teams split the final six goals of the game.

Zorrilla, at 7:40, and Hemler, at 5:04, had the Hornets final two goals.

Washington and Lee had a 35-15 advantage in shots, scooped up 12 of the game's 21 groundballs and won 18 of 26 draws.
