Quakers Outlast Women's Lax

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Host Guilford College used a five-goal run midway through the second half to key a 15-12 ODAC women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

After junior Brittany Arndt put SU (2-8, 0-2 ODAC) on top 9-8 with her unassisted goal at 25:24, GC (5-5, 3-0) scored five straight goals in a span of 10:50 to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Sophomore Annie McCorry snapped the run with a free position goal at 11:06, which started a three-goal spurt for the Hornets.

Miranda Rudacille and Abby Zorrilla tallied at 11:06 and 10:54, respectively, to bring SU to within one at 13-12, but Shenandoah was unable to get the equalizing tally.

The Quakers scored the final two goals of the game, the last with eight seconds remaining, to provide the final margin.

The Hornets outshot their hosts 34-32, held a 15-14 advantage in draw controls and scooped up 19 of the game's 34 groundballs.

Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a home ODAC contest versus Randolph-Macon.
