WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 9/15 Shenandoah University completed its weekend series sweep of CCNY Sunday with a 12-0 shutout over the Beavers.
Shenandoah (9-1) banged out 16 hits and saw senior lefty Darrell Thompson strike out 11 in 6.0 innings of work to complete the three-game sweep of CCNY (0-11).
In three contests this weekend, the Hornets had 34 hits, scored 26 runs and recorded 39 strikeouts.
Thompson scattered four hits and two walks in the first six innings to improve to 2-0 on the yound season. He gave way to CJ Morton, Luke Nussman and Jason Alvarez, who pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
The SU offense gave Thompson all the offense he would need with two runs in the second before adding five in the third, two in the fourth and three in the eighth.
Tristan Baker paced the 16-hit attack with a 4 for 6 day that included three RBI while Nate Loman and Joe Coleman were both 3 for 4.
John Wilt and Abel Arocho each had two hits with Wilt driving in a run and Arocho scoring twice.
Seven of nine starters had at least one hit.
Shenandoah is back in action Monday afternoon in a home non-league contest against Dickinson.
