Baseball Cruises Past Dickinson

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah baseball team continued its hot streak with a 6-1 non-league win over Dickinson Monday afternoon.

Controlled pitching combined with an explosive third inning were the storylines for the No. 9/15 Hornets (10-1).

On the mound for SU, Colin Morse (2-0) picked up his second win of the 2016 campaign. The right-hander pitched seven innings, recording eight strikeouts and allowing just one earned run.

In the bottom of the first, Shenandoah gained an early lead when Dan Cameron singled to send ODAC Player of the Week Joe Coleman home.

And after a few scoreless innings, the Hornets came alive again in the third. With the bases loaded, Abel Arocho jacked a single that was good enough to clear the bases. Neil Dutton followed up with a RBI scoring Arocho and SU owned a five-run advantage.

A Jake Loew single in the fifth sent Cameron home, put the hosts up six.

Dickinson (5-2) added run in the sixth, but it wasn't enough, giving SU its 10th win of the season.

The Hornets will search for their seventh straight win when they host Roanoke in the ODAC opener Saturday afternoon.
