WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team put together another solid performance Wednesday in an 8-6 non-league victory over Delaware Valley.
The game was neck-and-neck for the entire 60 minutes, but the Hornets (4-2) led throughout.
In the first quarter, crippling defense was on full display for both squads. The game's first goal came at the 7:12 mark, when Stephen LaTona tallied the first of his three goals on the day.
The Aggies (2-3) knotted it at 1-1 only to see LaTona find the back of the net for the second time in the stanza to put the hosts on top 2-1 after one.
The two teams traded goals in the second, with SU getting the last to take a 5-3 lead into the break.
The second half mimicked the first, with the Hornets clinging on to a small edge until the end of regulation. LaTona's final goal, just 3:53 remaining, was enough to seal the Hornets' second straight victory.
LaTona led the victors with three goals while Connor Bishop and Tilghman Sanders each added a pair of tallies.
The Hornets host Randolph on Saturday at 1 p.m. in their ODAC opener.
