WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Roanoke College used a strong second quarter on its way to a 21-5 ODAC men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
Shenandoah (4-9, 0-6 ODAC) scored the game's first goal and trailed by just one, 2-1, to start the second, but could only watch as the Maroons (10-4, 5-1) poured it on in the second stanza.
Roanoke scored 10 of the 11 goals in the period, outshooting SU 22-2, to take a 13-2 lead into the break.
The Hornets scored three of the five third period goals, but the Maroons kept any thoughts of a Shenandoah comeback at bay by holding SU scoreless over the final 15 minutes of play.
Freshman Ryan Schott paced the hosts with four goals.
Roanoke had 15 different men register at least one point with Tyler McWilliams registering six goals and two assists for eight points, Will Pilat three goals and three assists and IV Stucker four goals.
Hornets goalkeeper Ben Judy had 19 saves in 55:20 of action.
RC outshot SU 54-33, had a 41-18 advantage in groundballs and won 19 of 28 face-offs.
Shenandoah travels to Washington and Lee on Saturday for a 3 p.m. ODAC contest.
