Generals Halt Men's Lax

LEXINGTON, Va. - Host Washington and Lee kept its ODAC men's lacrosse record perfect on the season with a 20-4 victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

The Generals (10-2, 6-0 ODAC) broke a 1-1 tie with SU (4-10, 0-7) by scoring the final five goals of the first quarter on their way to a 13-4 halftime advantage.

Shenandoah found itself in that 1-1 tie thanks to a Michael Brooks to Tilghman Sanders goal at 12:32 of the first.

W&L then reeled off five straight to finish the first to lead 6-1.

The Hornets scored two of the initial three goals in the second quarter, with Eric Sawyer scoring at 12:50 and Stephen LaTona at 11:32, but Washington and Lee again had an answer.

W&L would reel off another 5-0 run to extend its lead to 12-3 before Brooks scored unassisted 25 seconds before halftime.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, this would be the squad's final goal of the game.

Washington and Lee scored four times in the third and added three more in the fourth to provide the final margin of victory.

The Generals outshot SU 52-38, had a 42-24 edge in groundballs and won 20 of 27 times at the faceoff 'x'.

Ben Judy had 18 saves in just less than 55 minutes of action before turning it over to Jake Gabriele and Michael Beutel for the final 5:09.

Shenandoah has its final road game of the season next Saturday in a 1 p.m. ODAC contest at Randolph-Macon.
