ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Ben Judy's school-record performance was not enough as host Randolph-Macon rebounded from a slow start to down Shenandoah University 15-4 in ODAC men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
Judy, the Hornets goalkeeper, made a program-record 31 saves for Shenandoah (4-11, 0-8 ODAC) but could not hold off the Yellow Jackets (4-11, 3-4) offensive onslaught.
The 'Jackets took 52 of the game's 77 shots, peppering Judy with at least 11 shots in each quarter.
In the second and third, a 30-minute span in which R-MC turned a 3-2 lead 12-3 advantage, Macon outshot SU 29-9.
Shenandoah had a hot start as Michael Brooks scored the first two goals of the game to give SU a 2-0 lead by the time the game was five minutes old.
Unfortunately, Macon had an answer.
The Yellow Jackets scored the next seven goals of the game, holding Shenandoah off the board until Ryan Schott scored unassisted at the 10:14 mark of the third.
Macon then reeled off another seven-goal run to increase its lead to 14-3 with 8:49 remaining.
Schott also stopped this run, finishing a Tilghman Sanders feed with 2:31 left in the fourth.
R-MC dominated possession, winning 16 of 22 faceoffs and having a 45-25 advantage in groundballs in addition to that 52-25 advantage in shots.
Shenandoah completes its season next Saturday with a 1 p.m. game versus Bridgewater.
