WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team has qualified for the ODAC Tournament for the third consecutive year thanks to a 5-4 victory over Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.

Playing on Senior Day, with Molly Barb, Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton all honored prior to the match, it was Barb that punched Shenandoah's ticket into the ODAC Tournament with her win at No. 1 singles.

Leading 4-3 with the match at No. 6 singles still on the court in addition to her match at No. 1, Barb gutted out a 7-5, 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 victory to earn the clinching point.

Shenandoah (9-6, 4-6 ODAC) had taken a 2-1 lead over the Marlins (4-9, 3-7) with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but VWC quickly took the lead with straight set wins at Nos. 4 and 2 singles.

Tilton, who had paired with Barb to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles, brought the match back to even with her 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles.

Melodie Madison then put the Hornets one point from victory by taking out Jacklyn Cheely 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5.

Barb earned her 11th singles win of the season to close out the match and put Shenandoah into the top eight in the league standings.

The tournament pairings will be announced following the completion of league play. SU could be either a six, seven or eight seed at the tournament.
