WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Bridgewater College punched its ticket to the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament with an 8-6 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

With the two teams tied for the sixth and final spot in the ODAC Tournament coming into Wednesday night's game, the contest was effectively a play in game for the tournament.

Bridgewater (9-7, 4-4 ODAC) grabbed that final spot on the strength of a four-goal run early in the second half to pull away from Shenandoah (5-11, 3-5).

After sophomore Abby Zorrilla tallied unassisted for the Hornets at 28:14 of the second to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Eagles, BC scored the final four goals of the game to pull away.

Shenandoah was held off the board for 22:30 of game time; freshman Sidney VanTuyl started a 3-0 run for SU with an unassisted goal at 5:44, but the deficit was too great.

Miranda Rudacille and Zorrilla backed up VanTuyl's goal with tallies at 5:13 and 4:22, but SU would get no closer than a two-goal deficit.

Caroline Fletcher scored unassisted at 2:03 for the visitors to effectively seal the contest.

Zorrilla closed the book on the game's scoring with an unassisted goal 12 seconds before the final horn.

Bridgewater earned the victory by dominating possession time; the Eagles had a 22-13 advantage in groundballs and won 10 of 16 draws to keep SU out of its offensive end for the majority of the contest.

Hornets goalkeepers Brittany Bain and Rachel Levy combined to make nine saves. Levy had six stops in playing the final 30 minutes.

The loss eliminates Shenandoah from tournament consideration. SU completes its season on Saturday with an ODAC contest at Lynchburg.
