Swarthmore Shuts Out Women

NEWARK, N.J. - Undefeated Swarthmore kept its women's soccer record perfect with a 2-0 win over Shenandoah Saturday on day one of the Rutgers-Newark Tournament.

The Garnet (4-0) scored one goal in each half to send SU (3-1) to defeat for the first time this season.

Sarah Hancock converted a double assist in the 24th minute for what proved to be the game-winner before Hannah Lichtenstein headed home a Marin McCoy cross in the 57th.

Swarthmore outshot Shenandoah 17-6 and took all eight of the game's corners.

Erin Septer had 10 saves in the losing effort.

"I was very pleased with our effort today," Hornets head coach Liz Pike said. "That was maybe the best team we have ever played. We will work on fixing our mistakes and come back tomorrow."

SU completes tournament play tomorrow with a 4 p.m. game against host Rutgers-Newark.
