SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team earned victory number five this season with a 1-0 non-league victory over Susquehanna University Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Emily Yergin tallied off of an Alysha McCleaf assist in the 86th minute to push Shenandoah (5-2) past the River Hawks (4-2).
The game was virtually even in all aspects - SU held advantages of 11-10 in shots and 5-4 in corners, with Susquehanna goalkeeper Jordyn Slocum making five saves to four for Erin Septer.
It is Septer's fifth shutout of the season.
"Ninety-minute battle by both teams today," Hornets coach Liz Pike said. "Emily had a great goal and fortunately we came out on top."
Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday at Southern Virginia.
