Volleyball Sweeps

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team earned its first ODAC victory of the season Saturday as part of a tri-match sweep at Eastern Mennonite.

The Hornets (7-6, 1-1 ODAC) swept both of their matches in straight sets versus the host Royals and Lancaster Bible College.

All 3 sets went down to the wire against EMU, with SU winning 25-22, 25-22, and 25-23.

Kaitlyn Kelley dominated offensively, totaling 14 kills for the victors with Elizabeth Lamont added eight of her own. Rachel Roberts and Caylin Harris each posted six kills.

Rachel Cerretani and Jasmine Callahan were catalysts for the Hornets' offense with 19 and 16 assists, respectively.

Coach Jaime Terenzi's squad overpowered the Chargers in match number two, winning at 18, 10, and 21.

The Hornets routed Lancaster Bible in sets one and two. In set three LBC put up a good fight, battling SU back and forth. The set was tied at 21 all before Shenandoah called a timeout and went on the win the final four points of the match.

Kelley again led the Hornets' offensive attack with a game high 12 kills. Roberts and Harris added nine each.

Callahan and Cerretani conducted a strong offensive effort in match number two having 19 and 14 assists, respectively.

Shenandoah's libero, Nicole Shannon, led the defense with 15 digs in the winning effort. 

The Hornets are back in action on Wednesday as the travel to Lexington, Va. to take on Washington & Lee in an ODAC matchup at 6:30.
