LEXINGTON, Va. - Homestanding Washington and Lee University continued its strong start to the 2016 ODAC season with a 3-0 sweep over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
The Generals (12-1, 3-0 ODAC) claimed the victory over SU (7-7, 1-2) with scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 29-27.
In the first two sets of the match, W&L jumped out to 3-0 and 5-0 leads, which Shenandoah was not able to overcome.
The third set was much more competitive, going into extra points and the Generals needing six match point opportunities before claiming the sweep.
Senior, Rachel Roberts led SU offensively converting seven of her 11 attacks into kills. A pair of juniors, Elizabeth Lamont and Kaitlyn Kelley, added another six kills each.
Senior classmates Jasmine Callahan and Rachel Cerretani orchestrated the Hornets' offensive attack with 12 and 11 assists, respectively.
Shenandoah is back on the road this Saturday as they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina take on Guilford in a noon ODAC matchup.
