WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its first ODAC victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Eastern Mennonite Wednesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (4-5, 1-1 ODAC) scored two goals in each half to dispatch the Royals (4-5, 0-1).
Sophomore Whitney Ross got the hosts on the board with her unassisted goal at 20:37 before Taylor Hayes tallied what proved to be the game-winner at 28:46.
Hayes' goal capped a first half in which SU took 15 of the game's 19 shots.
Elizabeth Pardo and Maddie Price sandwiched unassisted goals at 37:27 and 46:44, respectively, around the Royals goal at 44:05 to provide the final margin of victory.
The Hornets ended up with a 29-7 advantage in shots while EMU had six of the game's 11 corners.
Jessica Brown had to make two saves in goal for Shenandoah.
SU continues this homestand on Saturday with a 2 p.m. ODAC contest versus Sweet Briar.
