By Lara Pluska

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Randolph-Macon maintained its position atop the ODAC men's basketball standings with a 74-47 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

The two teams traded the lead twice in the opening five minutes before a big Macon (11-5, 7-0 ODAC) run put away the Hornets (6-10, 2-5).

After Malcolm Clark gave SU a 6-4 lead with his 3-pointer at the 16:19 mark, the Yellow Jackets scored 16 straight points to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Now staked to a 14-point lead, R-MC did not let its advantage slip below 12 points the rest of the way.

Clark, who led all scorers with 15 points, sparked a 6-1 Shenandoah run to start the second, but the Hornets would get no closer than 14 points in the second half.

Macon scored 15 of the final 21 points of the game to bring home the 27-point victory.

Clark added six rebounds to go along with his 15 points. Sophomore Dalon McHugh added an additional 10 points from the bench.

Shenandoah was held to 29 percent shooting while the 'Jackets shot 45 percent and had a 45-37 advantage on the boards.

SU completes this homestand on Saturday with a 3 p.m. ODAC contest versus Virginia Wesleyan.
