WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Virginia Wesleyan earned its sixth ODAC men's basketball victory of the season with an 88-79 win over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

In a game marked by 10 lead changes and two ties, VWC (13-4, 6-2 ODAC) took control with a big run midway through the second half.

Senior Malcolm Clark gave the Hornets (6-11, 2-6) a two-point, 41-39, lead with a fastbreak layup at 17:55.

Khalil Barnette answered on the Marlins next trip down the floor with a 3-pointer to put Virginia Wesleyan up by one.

Barnette's '3', one of 16 the Marlins hit on the day, sparked a 13-2 run that put the Marlins up by nine, 43-52, with exactly 15 minutes left.

Clark refused to let his side fold, however, scoring four straight points and igniting an 8-0 run that put Shenandoah down just one, 52-51, following a Derrick Perry layup at 11:25.

Unfortunately for the Shingleton Gymnasium crowd, VWC responded with a 13-2 run over the next 4:02 that effectively sealed the contest. The Marlins hit four 3-pointers during this spurt.

SU would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

With 3:02 remaining, the contest was delayed by approximately 15 minutes as a double technical was called and both benches cleared. After the officials assessed the double technical, the game continued with each team having only the five players that were on the floor prior to the benches clearing.

Malcolm Clark led the hostswith 24 points and six rebounds. Jonah Meredith also helped out with six rebounds.

Khory Moore had a game-high 34 points for the Marlins. He scored 17 of Virginia Wesleyan's final 18 points.

Shenandoah takes to the road on Wednesday at 7 for an ODAC contest at Eastern Mennonite.
