WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Washington and Lee University scored the final two goals in a 4-3 ODAC overtime field hockey victory over Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (7-6, 1-2 ODAC) led 3-2 following a Morgan Lingo goal in the 48th minute, but W&L had an answer.
Haley Tucker scored off of an Annalise Thole assist with 2:57 remaining and then got the game-winner 2:22 into the first sudden victory overtime to steal the win for the Generals (8-4, 4-0).
The two teams traded the first four goals of the game with SU getting a Raven Barter tally in the 27th minute and a Kayla Alderman goal in the 38th.
W&L countered with goals in the 32nd and 40th minutes.
The Generals had a 9-4 advantage in shots and took six of the game's eight penalty corners.
Isabella Morande had one save in goal for the Hornets.
Shenandoah continues this homestand on Sunday with a 2 p.m. ODAC game versus Lynchburg.
