LEXINGTON, Va. – Host Washington and Lee scored the first three goals of the game on its way to a 3-1 ODAC women's soccer victory over Shenandoah Tuesday afternoon.
The Generals (9-3-1, 6-1 ODAC) maintained its position atop the ODAC standings with the its sixth win over SU (7-8, 2-5) in the past 10 meetings between the two teams. Shenandoah had won the previous two regular season matchups versus W&L.
Washington & Lee scored the game's initial goal in the 30th minute as Elle Prillaman beat Hornets goalkeeper Charlotte Evans on a breakaway.
In the 44th minute, W&L got what proved to be the game-winner on an unassisted goal from Rebecca Morris.
Shenandoah got its tally in the 76th minute as Michelle Krause played a long ball ahead to Liz Keefer, who beat Washington and Lee keeper Leeann Passaro with one touch.
The two teams split 32 shots with SU holding a 6-4 advantage in corners.
Evans and Haley Golden combined to make three saves. Evans played the first half and Golden the second.
Shenandoah travels to Sweet Briar Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest.
