HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Host Hampden-Sydney earned its third ODAC men's soccer victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (8-3-1, 3-1 ODAC) sandwiched a pair of two-goal runs around a Shenandoah (2-10-1, 0-3-1) goal to earn the win.
H-SC scored in the third and 38th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
SU scored its goal 13:28 into the second half, getting an Andres Garces to Brian Maye tally to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Unfortunately for the Hornets faithful, Hampden-Sydney scored off a corner kick 85 seconds to restore its two-goal advantage.
The Tigers scored their final goal in the 74th minute.
Hampden-Sydney had a 17-14 advantage in shots and took nine of the game's 14 corners.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Sam Fischer had six saves.
The SU men return home on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest versus Bridgewater.
