BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College completed a women's basketball season sweep over Shenandoah with a 74-66 ODAC victory Wednesday evening.
The Eagles (13-7, 6-5 ODAC) earned the win by scoring 10 of the game's final 12 points.
After McKenzie Mathis tied the contest at 64-64 for the Hornets (4-16, 1-10) with her layup at the 6:58 mark of the fourth, BC seized control with the game-ending run.
Kaitlyn Lehan put the Eagles on top to stay with a layup at 5:30 before Rebecca Harvey hit another layup at 3:31.
Jordan Sondrol scored the Hornets final bucket 26 seconds after Lehan's layup, but SU would get no closer.
Jessica Lam answered with a layup of her own at 2:20 and BC hit four free throws in the final 37 seconds to ice the victory.
The game featured just one lead change, but was tied on eight occasions.
Lehan led the victors with 30 points and 17 rebounds; Bridgewater had four of its five starters score in double figures.
Mathis, a freshman, had a season-high 14 points with Sondrol, her classmate, adding 11 points.
The Eagles shot 57 percent to the Hornets 38 percent and grabbed 36 of the game's 68 rebounds.
Shenandoah returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest versus Emory and Henry.
