DOVER, Del. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team opened up its season Saturday with a 19-7 non-league road victory over Wesley.
Shenandoah (1-0) topped the Wolverines (0-1) in a season-opening contest for the second straight year with the win.
The Hornets wasted little time in jumping all over their hosts, scoring the initial seven goals of the game and leading 10-2 by halftime.
The second half brought more of the same as SU expanded its 15-6 lead after three by scoring the first three goals of the fourth.
The two teams split the final two goals of the game, with Shenandoah scoring in the final minute, to provide the final margin of victory.
"Today was a great team win," head coach Tim Marshall said. "Offensively we shared the ball extremely well with nine different men scoring goals.
"The team prepared very well for this game and executed what we needed to do. We are already putting this one behind us and moving on to next week."
Complete stats will be available as soon as they are confirmed.
Marshall's club is off until hosting Hood College on Saturday, February 25 in a 1 p.m. non-league contest.
