Men's Lax Falls at DelVal

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Host Delaware Valley withstood a furious Shenandoah comeback Wednesday afternoon in a 9-7 non-league men's lacrosse victory over the Hornets.

The host Aggies (1-1) used a four-goal run sandwiching the end of the first period to take a 5-1 lead over the Hornets (2-1), but had to hold on as Shenandoah came all the way back.

On the strength of a 5-1 run over the next 14:21, SU tied the game at 6-6 following a Tilghman Sanders extra-man goal with 2:13 to play in the third.

Ryan Schott, off of a Sanders assist, got the run started and also scored the third goal of the run. Eric Sawyer and Stephen LaTona also scored before Sanders capped it with that unassisted EMO goal.

DelVal answered with goals at :59 of the third and 12:02 of the fourth to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Michael Brooks had an unassisted goal at 8:38 of the fourth to cut the Hornets deficit in half, but SU would get no closer.

The Aggies outshot Shenandoah 40-37 and won 12 of 20 faceoffs.

SU had a 27-23 advantage in groundballs.

Ben Judy had 12 saves in the losing effort.

Shenandoah is back in action on Saturday in a 1 p.m. non-league contest versus Elizabethtown. This game is the lidlifter in a doubleheader with the Hornet women.
