WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Marymount University earned its second straight men's soccer win of the season with a 5-2 non-conference triumph over Shenandoah University Wednesday night on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.
After Sam Natkin tied the game for SU (2-3) on a goal off of an Andres Garces assist in the 20th minute, Marymount (2-4) scored the initial two goals of the second half to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Brian Maye briefly cut the Shenandoah deficit to 3-2 with his unassisted goal at 85:47, but the Saints answered just 19 seconds later and then again in the 89th minute to provide the final margin.
MU had slight advantages in shots and corners at 13-12 and 5-4, respectively, with Hornets goalkeeper Sam Fischer making five saves.
The men are back in action on the road Saturday in a noon non-league game at Goucher.
