WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's soccer team had a furious comeback Tuesday evening in its non-league contest versus Hood, but it was not enough as the Blazers escaped with a 4-3 win.
Trailing 4-1 after Alain Shekanino scored unassisted in the 78th minute for Hood (5-3), Nick Seymour tallied twice in the final five minutes for SU (2-5).
At 85:43, Seymour headed home a perfect cross from Andres Garces from right on the doorstep to cut the Hornets deficit to 4-2.
Then, with 24 seconds remaining, Sam Natkin set up Seymour for his second goal of the game.
Hood was able withstand that comeback thanks to scoring four of the game's initial five goals. The Blazers scored in the 14th, 15th, 64th and 78th minutes to race out to that 4-1 lead – a Natkin to Garces goal was the SU tally during this spurt.
Shenandoah outshot its visitors 8-6 with the two teams splitting four corners.
The Hornets take to the road Saturday for 7 p.m. ODAC game at Guilford.
