WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Lynchburg College won the battle of the ODAC Hornets Wednesday evening with a 3-1 win over Shenandoah.
After Shenandoah (4-8, 0-4 ODAC) took the second set, 28-26, LC (6-4, 1-2) sealed the win with victories at 14 and 19 in the third and fourth, respectively.
Lynchburg was a 25-20 winner in the opener.
Trailing 20-16 following a ball handling error, SU scored four straight and six of the next seven points to take a 22-21 lead in the second.
The two teams remained within one point of each other until Shenandoah finally clinched the set victory with consecutive kills from Sabrina Semo and Caylin Harris.
Harris' kill, one of nine she had on the evening, came on a dink into an open spot in the middle of the Lynchburg defense.
LC hit a combined .298 in the third and fourth sets to take its first victory over Shenandoah since the 2014 season.
Harris and Semo led the hosts with nine kills each while Torie Gettier had eight.
Megan Hillyard and Emily Veach combined for 30 assists with Hillyard posting 16 of that total.
SU is on the road Saturday with a non-league tri-match at Marymount. The Hornets will take on Goucher in addition to the host Saints.
