WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting William Peace University used a quick opening goal to key a 3-1 non-league men's soccer victory over Shenandoah Sunday afternoon.
Chris Deleon took advantage of a misplay by the Shenandoah (1-1) defense to blast home a shot from 20 yards out and put the Pacers (2-0) on top to stay.
Seth Cranford scored in the 41st minute before Deleon tallied in the 48th to give the visitors a three-goal advantage.
With a tad more than 20 minutes remaining, Sam Natkin cleaned up a loose ball in front and knocked home the Hornets goal.
Hornets goalkeeper Sam Fischer had seven saves in playing the opening 45 minutes with Cory Thompson making one second half save.
William Peace had a 16-9 advantage in shots and took all five of the game's corners.
The men are off until traveling to Dover, Delaware on Friday evening for a 7 p.m. non-league contest at Wesley College.
