WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 23 Lynchburg College scored a trio of first half goals on its way to a 3-1 ODAC women's soccer victory over host Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (6-4, 1-1 ODAC) dominated possession early, generating four corner kicks in the first 22 minutes, but it was Lynchburg (8-1, 1-1) that cashed in on its opportunities.
After being held without a shot for the initial 35 minutes of the contest, Sarah Wescott put LC on top to stay by ripping a 25-yard shot into the upper right-corner.
Lynchburg added goals in the 39th and 44th minutes, the former off a scrum following a corner kick and the latter on a rebound.
SU scored the lone goal of the second half off a double assist with sophomore Sara Fuller finishing off the play. Fuller's classmate, Jessica Stuart, got matters started with a pass to to Rebecca Collimore in the corner, where Collimore immediately redirected the ball into the middle of the pitch. Fuller was wide open at this point and only had to tap the ball into the open net for her fourth goal of the season.
LC took nine of the game's 16 shots with the two teams splitting eight corner kicks.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Charlotte Evans had two saves.
The women continue this homestand on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. ODAC contest versus Hollins.
