ALTOONA, Pa. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team christened Penn St. – Altoona's new arena with a 3-1 non-league victory Tuesday evening.
Playing in the first-ever competition at Adler Arena on the PSU-A campus, the Hornets (2-3) rebounded from a second set loss to win 25-19 and 25-16 in the third and fourth sets to take the victory over the Lions (2-3).
The two teams had split the first two sets with SU winning at 21 in the opener and PSU-A at 19 in the second.
Senior Kaitlyn Kelley was outstanding for the Hornets, posting a team-high 17 kills, with Caylin Harris adding nine and Madison Inzunza seven.
Megan Hillyard and Kayla Robey fueled the Shenandoah attack with 19 and 10 assists, respectively.
Defensively, Nicole Shannon had 30 digs, Kelley 18 and both Hillyard and Emily Fisher 15 each.
SU opens up its home slate Thursday night at 7 p.m. versus Mount Aloysius.
