Men's Soccer Stings Wasps in OT

EMORY, Va. - Shenandoah defeated Emory & Henry 3-2 in an ODAC men's soccer match Sunday afternoon.

William Majano scored 48 seconds into the second overtime period to lift the Hornets (5-8-1, 2-5 ODAC) over the Wasps (6-9, 0-8). 

HOW IT HAPPENED

18′ | Trace Becker played a through ball to Kane Melendez who caught the Wasps' goalie out of position for the first goal of the game.

25′ | Emory & Henry committed a foul inside the box, Andres Garces took the kick for the Hornets to give SU a 2-0 lead.

101′ | William Majano one-timed the ball to score in the second overtime period off of a Matt Sweeney throw-in.

E&H

35′ | Sam Fischer made a stop on a Tyequis Stallins shot but couldn't hang on to the ball allowing Stallins to score off the rebound.

36′ | A minute later, Stallins scored again after a C.J. Poulsen throw-in to tie the game at 2-2.

"This was a hard fought win," Head Coach Matt Smith said. "We took the lead early and when they tied it up we didn't lose composure, just kept playing hard. William Majano had a great goal to finish the game off."

The men are at home Wednesday, October 17th to take on Randolph College at 7 p.m.
