HARRISONBURG, Va. – Host Eastern Mennonite University shot a sizzling 63 percent from the field Wednesday night on its way to a 121-93 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah.

The Royals (10-13, 5-10 ODAC) made 50 field goals in turning in their highest-ever point total over the Hornets (8-16, 3-12).

Leading 55-45 at the break, EMU shot 27-for-43 (63 percent) from the field and made six of its eight foul shots in the second stanza to pull away from SU.

The Royals put the game away with a 15-6 run midway through the second. Leading by nine, 70-61, following a pair of Christopher Chaney field goals, EMU ripped off that 15-7 in a span of 4:06 to lead 85-68 with exactly nine minutes remaining.

Jalyn Jarrett, who had 17 points, ended that spurt with a 3-pointer at 8:52.

Shenandoah would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.

SU shot 42 percent (27-of-64) from the field and made 29 of its 37 free throw attempts (78 percent) but was no match as Eastern Mennonite had a 41-29 edge on the glass and had five players register double-digit points.

Maleke Jones and Sammy Thomas led this group with 18 points each with fellow starter RaShawn Latimer adding 16 points.

Chaney had 20 points off the bench for the Hornets with Jarrett adding his 17 and both Dominic Steward and Kwa McDonald 11.

Chaney also had a team-high seven rebounds.

Shenandoah completes its regular season on Saturday with a 2 p.m. ODAC contest at Guilford.
