GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team completed its 2017-18 regular season Saturday afternoon with an 89-57 ODAC loss at Guilford College.
Guilford (14-11, 10-6 ODAC) held Shenandoah (8-17, 3-13) to just two points in a span of 13:49 of the first half to take total control of the contest.
After Christian Meredith tied the game at 10-10 on a layup at 16:37, the Quakers scored 21 of the game's next 23 points to take a 31-12 lead with 2:32 remaining.
Meredith, who finished with 10 points, snapped this near scoreless draught with a jumper at the 1:42 mark.
Christopher Chaney had the lone bucket during this span, converting a layup at 14:02 to make the score 15-12 in favor of the hosts.
After being held off the board for 11:17, SU scored six of the final 10 points of the first half.
The second half brought more of the same as GC pulled away with a 24-8 run to start the stanza.
The two teams the played the final 12 minutes of the contest even, with Shenandoah outscoring the Quakers 31-30 to close out the game.
Jalyn Jarrett and Jordan Hunter led the Hornets with 11 points each while Meredith and White both chipped in 10 points.
For Hunter and White, their production represents new career-highs.
Guilford had a 51-37 edge on the glass and shot 48 percent (33-of-69) to 28 percent (18-of-65) for SU.
Shenandoah now awaits the announcement of the 2018 ODAC Tournament bracket. SU will be on the road Tuesday night in a first round game.
