CHESTER, Pa. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team completed its non-league slate Friday afternoon with an 18-10 win at Widener University.

Shenandoah (7-3) led throughout, scoring the game's initial goal on Alyson Bittinger tally at 25:26. Senior Annie McCorry scored the first of her three goals four minutes later and the Hornets would hold this lead for the remainder of the contest.

Widener (2-5) cut its deficit to one goal on two occasions, the last on the opening goal of the second half, but could not answer the SU run.

Shenandoah reeled off the game's next six goals, turning a 5-4 lead into an 11-4 advantage with 20:59 to play.

Five different women scored goals during this stretch, including Bittinger and McCorry, with Cassie Arndt scoring consecutive free position goals at 21:31 and 21:21.

SU would hold at least a five-goal lead the rest of the way.

Bittinger and senior Abby Zorrilla led the victors with four goals each while Arndt added three goals and one assist, McCorry three goals and Jordyn Miller two goals and one assist.

Maddie Albornoz had four saves in 46:08 of action before turning it over to Gionna Maria for the final 13:52. Maria made one stop.

Shenandoah outshot the Pride 31-27 and had a dominating 23-7 edge in draw controls.

Widener held a slight, 25-23, advantage in groundballs.

"I am glad to finish our non-conference schedule with a win," Hornets head coach Lindsey Lutz said. "We have a big one coming up in Washington & Lee (in ODAC play)."

The W&L game is Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Lexington. The Generals are currently No. 14 in the nation.
