WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team celebrated its Senior Day Saturday with a 10-9 overtime ODAC victory over Bridgewater.
Sophomore Ryan Schott scored the game winning goal for the Hornets (7-8, 3-5 ODAC) 1:52 into the first sudden victory overtime period to down the Eagles (8-7, 2-6).
The win is just the second ever for SU over its rivals down south.
The game featured nine ties and seven lead changes - the two teams were never separated by one goal and Schott's game-winning goal represented just the second time the lead did not change hands following a game-tying goal.
The game-winner was Schott's second unassisted tally of the game. He finished with two goals and one assist for three points.
Michael Brooks had three goals and one assist while Devon Weaver added two goals. All three of Brooks' goals tied the game. His first tied it at 1-1, his second at 6-6 and his third at 8-8.
Weaver's second goal, with 4:15 to play in regulation, gave SU a 9-8 lead. Bridgewater then sent it to overtime with a Blake Mann goal with 3:27 remaining.
BC outshot the Hornets 39-34 and was 14-of-22 at the faceoff 'x' while SU had a 29-27 advantage in groundballs. The Hornets also forced 11 turnovers.
Shenandoah completes its regular season on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. ODAC game at Lynchburg.
