PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's (L.I.) Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (1-1) won at 19 and 14 in the first two sets before St. Joseph's came back for a 25-23 win in the third.
The Hornets clinched the victory thanks to a 27-25 triumph in the fourth. Trailing 25-24 in that final set, Emily Cheatwood had her final kill to knot it at 25-25 before Sabrina Semo and Caylin Harris kills clinched the win.
IN BRIEF
Cheatwood and Harris both had 15 kiils for SU with Megan Hillyard posting 20 assists and Emily Veach 18.
Harris, with 18 digs, led the defense. Classmate Nicole Shannon had 17 and Hannah Lien nine.
