WASHINGTON, Pa. - Host Washington & Jefferson used a pair of second half goals to top Shenandoah University in non-league field hockey action Sunday afternoon.
The Presidents (2-0) and Hornets (1-1) battled for possession throughout the majority of the game before the W&J opened up the scoring in the 50th minute of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED

49:11 | Rachel Fromm inserted a penalty corner, the Hornets seemed to have dismantled the scoring opportunity after the initial play by Alana Boyd was broken up. Fromm then collected the ball and snuck one past the defense at the far post. Boyd was credited with an assist.
56:37 | Rachel Buyan scored from two yards out after Rachel Fromm was able to cross the ball off of a penalty corner play.

"This was a tough loss," said Head Coach Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft. "We are going to take this game and learn from it, there are a lot of things we can clean up before we meet Hood on Wednesday."
