WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team downed Hollins University 52-42 Saturday afternoon in an ODAC contest.
The Hornets (8-8, 4-5 ODAC) led Hollins (3-11, 0-8) the entire length of the contest.
THE RUNDOWN
1st Quarter
Shenandoah scored the first three baskets of the game and did not look back, leading by as much as nine points in the first thanks to an Ashley Stone 3-point jumper with 3:15 remaining. Hollins answered back with seven straight points to bring the score within two, 13-11, at the end of one.
2nd Quarter
The two teams traded buckets throughout the second with SU leading 24-20 at the break.
3rd Quarter
The Hornets held Hollins to six points in the third quarter while going on a 10-2 run to end the quarter with a 13-point lead; this set Shenandoah up for its largest lead 25 seconds into the final stanza.
4th Quarter
A Brianna Turner layup off a Brooke Riley missed free throw gave SU a 16-point lead, the largest of the game. Hollins would go on to outscore Shenandoah 16-13 in the final quarter.

"This was a tough week for the women," head coach Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft said. "To come away with two ODAC wins was critical. We played as a team and were able to get a lot of reserves time on the court."
