HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team fell to Eastern Mennonite University 63-47 Wednesday night in ODAC action.
EMU (8-9, 5-5 ODAC) recorded 14 steals to keep SU (8-9, 4-6) at a distance for a majority of the contest. The Royals scored 17 points off of 21 Shenandoah turnovers.
THE RUNDOWN
1st Quarter
The Royals scored first but a back-and-forth period saw three lead changes and three ties. EMU scored the last five points of the quarter and took a 17-13 lead at the end of the first stanza.
2nd Quarter
A series of turnovers and missed layups from both sides had the second quarter scoreless for the first four minutes. Jordan Sondrol ended the scoring drought with a three-pointer as the shot clock was nearing zero. EMU scored the final six points of the half to take a six-point lead into the locker room.
3rd Quarter
The Hornets trailed the entire third quarter and saw EMU lead by as much as 15. SU cut the deficit down to four with two minutes remaining but the Royals scored the last two buckets to maintain an eight-point lead after three.
4th Quarter
Eastern Mennonite outscored Shenandoah 18-10 in the final stanza to secure the win.
