After the two teams traded the lead four times and were tied five times in the first 11 minutes of play, Roanoke took control of the game with a 9-1 run midway through the first half.

RC established total control of the contest with a 17-0 run that sandwiched halftime. The Maroons held at least a 20-point lead the rest of the way.
