Women's Soccer Falls in Second OT

Virginia Wesleyan Wins, 2-1

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Virginia Wesleyan scored in the final minute of overtime to earn a 2-1 ODAC women's soccer victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

The Marlins (8-3-3, 4-2-1 ODAC) got a Kennedi Anders golden goal with 25 seconds remaining to slip past Shenandoah (10-6, 5-3).

IN BRIEF

After VWU opened the game's scoring with a goal in the 71st minute, the Hornets answered back six minutes later on a Taylor Morris-to-Maiya Pencile tally.

Pencile took the feed from Morris and beat Marlins keeper Amruta Karakare on the doorstep to knot the contest at 1-1.

The two teams were both unable to put a shot on goal in the remaining 13:46 of regulation and initial 10 minutes of sudden victory overtime, but that all changed over the final 10 minutes.

VWU took three shots and SU one in that second OT session with Hornets keeper Emilie Smith making a pair of saves before Teah Lorenzi set up Anders with the game-winner.
