FREDERICK, Md. – Shenandoah University ran its series winning streak to 21 matches Thursday evening with a 3-1 non-league volleyball victory at Hood College.
Shenandoah (6-13) dropped the opening set, 26-24, before rallying for wins at 20, 18 and 16 over the Blazers (1-19).
IN BRIEF
Hood stole that opening set win by roaring back from a 24-19 deficit with seven straight points. Three of the Blazers seven points came via attack errors.
SU shook off the effects of that difficult loss to sweep the next three sets in increasingly strong fashion.
After hitting .071 (7-5-28) in the second, the Hornets hit .342 (14-1-38) and .350 (16-2-40) in the third and fourth to close out the match.
Shenandoah has now won 21 straight matches over Hood dating back to a 3-2 win exactly 20 years ago. Tonight's match is first between the two programs since October 27, 2016.
