No. 17 Generals Slip Past Women's Soccer

Hornets Wait on Tournament Seed

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team completed its 2019 regular season Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 loss at ODAC rival No. 17 Washington & Lee.

The Generals (15-0-2, 8-0-1 ODAC) scored the opening two goals and then had to hold on as Shenandoah (11-7, 6-4) had a second half answer.

IN BRIEF
Abby Alexa tallied that goal for SU in the 61st minute, scoring unassisted to cut the W&L lead in half.

The Hornets had two more shot attempts following Alexa's goal in which to tie the game, but Alexa's shot in the 71st minute was stopped and Emily Yergin's attempt in the 81st was wide.

Shenandoah goalkeeper Emilie Smith made eight saves.

With the Hornets ODAC Tournament berth assured, the team will wait until Saturday night to find out its quarterfinal round opponent.

QUOTABLE
"I thought we put up an outstanding fight in our last regular season game," head coach Liz Pike said. "I think that (Abby) Alexa and (Emilie) Smith had our top performances today while Emma Librizzi and Casey Morren really stepped up. I am very proud of this group."
